Baseball: No. 2 GHS routs Chestatee

GAINESVILLE -- Class AAA No. 2 Gainesville jumped on Chestatee early and never let up in taking a 10-0 win in five innings at Ivey-Watson Field.

The Elephants (10-0, 5-0 in Region 8-AAA) scored runs in the first and then two each in the second, third, and fourth innings.

Stephens Mason had two hits, two RBI, and scored twice to lead the Gainesville offense. Michael Gettys had two hits and two RBI, including a home run, and David Gonzalez also had two hits for the Elephants. Luke Moore had two RBI and Skyler Weber helped set the table with three stolen bases.

That was all Gettys needed on the mound. Gettys tosed a complete-game, three-hitter while fanning 10 for Gainesville.

Chestatee fell to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the region.
