After shooting a 2-under 69 in the first round, Savage of Louisville, Ky., quickly moved up the leaderboard with five birdies in his first 10 holes at Chattahoochee Golf Club on Friday. Although he was unable to move further under par at day's end, Savage's 7-under 135 total was the lowest of the players that completed the second round.
Major Manning of Daytona Beach, Fla., also completed his second round. And for the second day in a row, the former Augusta State and Nationwide Tour player shot a 3-under 68. Manning is 6-under par and T2.
Tyson Alexander of Gainesville, Fla., was still on the course at the conclusion of play. However, if the University of Florida alumnus can match his 6-under 65 from the first round, he should end round two near or atop the leaderboard following the second round.
Justin Smith (Franklin, Pa.), Nick Rousey (Pensacola, Fla.), Connor Arendell (Fort Meyers, Fla.) and Tyler Brown (Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.) all shot 4-under 67s on Friday and were T4 at 5-under par when play was halted. Scott Feaster (Columbia, S.C.) is also 5-under par and T4 after shooting a 1-under 70 in the second round.
Randall Hutchison (Traverse City, Mich.), Chas Narramore (Kingston, Tenn.), T.J. Bordeaux (Tacoma, Wash.), Bo Hoag (Upper Arlington, Ohio), Gabe Maier (Cody, Wyo.), Scott Weatherly (Fort Payne, Ala.) and David Dragoo (Carefree, Ariz.) were unable to finish their second rounds on Friday, but after shooting 5-under 66s in the first round, the group remains T4.
John Duthie (Lansing, N.Y.) carded the lowest round of the players that did complete the second round of play. The former Towson University golfer shot a 6-under 65 to move to 4-under par and into a tie for 16th with Daniel Burns (Mobile, Ala.), Ryan Spears (Del City, Okla.) and Venezuelan Alfredo Adrian, who was still on the course when play was stopped Friday evening.
At the conclusion of play, the cut was projected at 1-over par. The players that did not complete the second round will resume play at 8:30 a.m., while the third round is scheduled to start at approximately 12:30 p.m. As always, admission is free to the public.
