Hall Co. shooting victim arrested for animal cruelty

GAINESVILLE - The man who was shot early Tuesday morning on Meadowview Drive in Gainesville is now under arrest himself.

According to Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, 22-year-old Wayne Adam Shaw was treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the back. Once he was released from the hospital, he was booked into the Hall County Jail on an outstanding animal cruelty warrant.

"I don't know what the details of the charge itself are," Wilbanks said. "The case was made by Hall County Animal Control."

As for the suspects in the shooting, Wilbanks said they remain at large.

He said Shaw told officers he was approached by two black males with handguns who demanded money from him.
