The man, whose name has not been released, was working on a lawnmower at a location off Hollywood Church Road in the Hollywood community north of Clarkesville when the incident occurred, said Habersham County Fire Lt. Dwight McNally.
The initial report was that the man suffered burns when the lawnmower exploded.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the parking lot of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where he was loaded into a medical helicopter and airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
