Baseball: Dragons pound Clarke Central in opener

JEFFERSON -- The Jefferson baseball team opened its season with an impressive 8-1 win over Clarke Central Tuesday at home.

Three pitchers combined for a three-hitter with Matt Bowen getting the win with four scoreless innings while fanning seven. Jacob Page and Trent Sorrells piteched well allowing one run and two hits in three inninhs.

Jefferson jumped on Clarke Central starter Jerimah Warren for six hits and five runs in four innings. The Dragons scored twice in the second and added three runs in each the third and fifth innings. The Gladiators did not score until the seventh inning.

The Dragons' Tyler Cole belted a two-run home run. Max Ford and Ryan Johnson had two hits each and Hanon Price and Andy Nicholas had one hit apiece for Jefferson.
