Boys basketball: Branch holds off GHS in 8-AAAAA

FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Flowery Branch boys basketball team won its second Region 8-AAAAA game after holding off Gainesville 59-53 Tuesday at the Flowery Branch gym.

Jamaad Stephens poured in 23 to lead the Falcons (2-8, 2-4 Region 8-AAAAA) and Cody Dewing had 13 poiunts for Flowery Branch.

Gainesville (1-5, 0-5) was paced 22 points from Shaquan Cantrell.

Flowery Branch next will take on East Hall in the consolation round of the Lanierland Tournament on Thursday.

Gainesville will take on North Hall on Friday in the semifinals of the Lanierland Tournament.
