Boys basketball: North Hall rallies past East Hall in OT

GAINESVILLE -- North Hall overcame a sloppy first half to catch East Hall in the second half and eventually take a 72-69, overtime win at the North Hall gym Friday night in both teams' Region 7-AAA opener.

The Trojans (4-1, 1-0 in region) trailed 35-29 at halftime but turned up the defense in the third quarter and used a 17-11 run to tie the game. The lead changed hands half-a-dozen times in the fourth quarter.

Adam Kelly and Ethan Smith led the Trojans charge. Kelly finished with 33 points and 12 rebounds while Smith had 20 points and seven assists.

Daniel McCreavy paced East Hall (1-2, 0-1) with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Both teams will play region games on Tuesday, with North Hall traveling to Banks County and East Hall hosting Buford.
