Girls basketball: Chestatee wins second straight over Pickens

GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls ran out to a quick lead over Pickens and then held off a third quarter rally by the Lady Dragons to take a 45-40 win Tuesday night at the Chestatee gym.

Chestatee led 26-18 at halftime but led just 36-35 heading into the fourth quarter. The War Eagles held Pickens to just six fourth quarter points to preserve the win.

Maegan Kenimer led Chestatee (3-1) with 16 points and seven rebounds. Bridgette Kelly added 11 points and Erin Clifford 10 points for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee next will travel to fellow Region 8B-AAAA foe Stephens County on Tuesday in a non-region contest.
