President Obama rebounded strongly from a disaster in the first presidential debate., An instant poll of 500 undecided voters showed Obama winning by a 7 point margin with 33% rating it a tie. Nonetheless, the same polls showed Mitt Romney winning by a nearly two-third majority the question of who would be best able to fix the economy.

Commentators were saying they'd never seen a more combative debate with the two constantly in each others faces, often shouting and directly calling each other liars. Newspapers reported many, including some Democrats, felt the moderator favored Obama giving him more time and ruling mostly in his favor in rules disputes. I didn't hear any of those accusations on TV.
Obama did get back in the running and the polls show them close, particularly in the battleground states. They also show Romney gaining support from female voters which Obama once let by more than 16 percent. It's now closer to 6 percent. In the last election Obama won some 20 percent more of the female voters than John McCain.

Running polls show Romney leading Obama 7 points (way outside the margin of error) in the nationwide popular vote. However, the election is decided by the electoral vote and Obama leads Romney in most battle ground states, though Romney is slowly gaining ground. This is going to make the final debate Monday night all the more important. Romney probably needs to win Florida, Ohio and Virginia to win.
The Times reported there's a strong grass-roots effort on Romney's behalf in Hall County with emphasis on trying to contact each household by mail, phone call and personal home visits regardless of party and race several times, offering free rides to the polls, encouraging early and absentee voting, etc. When Betty and I early voted Wednesday, several thousand had already voted and the line we were in was long in front and behind us.
I won't be on radio election night but will be doing just like most of you
