Western Carolina (1-5, 0-4) scored its first points of the game on Troy Mitchell's 11-yard run, cutting the lead to 14-6 at the end of the first.
Georgia Southern's defense dominated, and its running game continued to impress as the Eagles outscored Western Carolina 31-7 the rest of the way. William Banks and James Dean added 101 and 95 yards rushing, respectively, and two scores.
