Posted 8:44AM on Thursday 4th October 2012 ( 12 years ago )
BUFORD - There were reports Thursday morning that former Buford High School football player and Air Force Academy tight end Devin Durden had passed away.

Durden was injured riding a motorcycle last Wednesday on Georgia Highway 20 when an SUV pulled out in front of him near Gravel Springs Road.

He had since been undergoing treatment for a spinal cord injury.

Durden was the son of Buford High School girl's basketball coach Gene Durden. Candace Baggett, a former player for coach Durden in Dade County, had set up a website to help support the family.

The website Thursday morning indicated Devin Durden died Thursday morning at 3:15 a.m.

"Devin fought incredibly hard, but in the end, the injuries he sustained were so numerous and complex that he just could not survive," according to the website.

Details of arrangements have not yet been communicated.
