Established in 1984, Crocker Pottery houses the largest Georgia folk pottery collection in the world with more than 4,000 examples in stock, according to owner Michael Crocker.
"The age-old craft of hand-made Georgia Folk Pottery has all but vanished in the last century," said Crocker. "Few folk potters remain to keep the old-timey ways and skills alive. Our pottery show allows folks to take a step back in time while visiting one of the last old traditional pottery shops in America."
Examples of Crocker Pottery are found in a number of collections and museums including the Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institution, The New York History Museum and The Atlanta History Center. In Gainesville, a signature Crocker piece is on display at Brenau University's Performing Arts Center.
Crocker said kiln highlights this Saturday will include face vessels of all kinds and sizes, as well as grape ware and utilitarian forms. In addition, older wares from other potters in the northeast Georgia region will be for sale.
Crocker Pottery is located on West County Line Road in Lula.
