Qualifying underway in Flowery Branch

FLOWERY BRANCH - Qualifying is underway for an open city council post in Flowery Branch. Candidates who wish to run for the Post 2 seat have until Friday at noon to complete the necessary paperwork and pay the $144 qualifying fee, according to a spokeswoman at Flowery Branch City Hall.

Post 2 was vacated earlier this month when Councilman Chris Fetterman was transferred to Florida by his employer.

The special election will take place March 6, the same date an election will be held to fill the vacant Post 3 seat on the council. Candidates already have qualified for that race.

Hours of qualifying at city hall are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday.
