Boys basketball: Defense carries Dawson past Fannin

DAWSONVILLE -- Dawson County used a stiffling defense to whip Fannin County 55-17 Friday night in Region 8A-AA action.

The Tigers opened the game with a 15-2 run and held Fannin County to just four first half points while leading 34-4. Dawson County increased its lead to 47-7 heading into the fourth quarter.

Jackson Putnam paced Dawson County (14-4, 1-2 in subregion) with 11 points. Jonathan Sanderson and Tyler Dominy each scored 10 for the Tigers.
