UNDATED - The parent company of Food Lion and other supermarket chains has announced it will close 29 stores across Georgia, including three in North Georgia.

The North Georgia stores that are slated to be shuttered are located on Brown's Bridge Road in Gainesville, Washington Street in Jefferson and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Lawrenceville. The stores are scheduled to close within the month.

Delhaize America, a Belgian company with U.S. headquarters in Salisbury, N.C., said the closures are part of a company-wide restructuring affecting 1,000 workers in the state. The company did not say how many employees would be affected in each store.

Delhaize America runs more than 1,600 stores in 16 states, including Food Lion, Bloom and Bottom Dollar Food store.
