Girls basketball: West Hall rally falls short

WALNUT GROVE -- West Hall nearly rallied from a 10-point third quarter deficit against Walnut Grove but fell short in a 52-50 loss in Region 8B-AAA action on the road.

Walnut Grove virtually the entire way with leads of 14-10 after the first quarter and 28-21 at halftime. The Lady Warriors (10-7, 4-1 in subregion) increased their lead to 40-32 heading into the fourth quarter.

But the Lady Spartans (5-14, 2-3) outscored Walnut Grove 18-12 in the final period but could not complete the comeback.

Maia Booker paced West Hall with 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Jensen Hall added nine points on three 3-pointers, Brooke Reed also had nine points, and senior Miranda Miller returned from an early-season wrist injury to pour in nine points as well for the Lady Spartans.

Mia Crowder led Walnut Grove with 22 points.
