Two from Gainesville among National Merit Scholarship semifinalists

WASHINGTON - Two Gainesville residents are among about 16,000 nationwide named semifinalists in this year's National Merit Scholarship competition. <br /> <br /> They are Jackson Hicks, a student at Pinecrest Academy in Cumming, and Sahara Calderhead, who attends Lakeview Academy in Gainesville. <br /> <br /> Both are now in the running for some two of about 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $34 million that will be offered next spring.<br /> <br /> <br />
