GAINESVILLE - Hall County residents soon will have two new ways to interact with their local government. The county will begin publishing a monthly e-newsletter on Nov. 1 and will hold its first Citizens' Government Academy in the spring.

"An e-newsletter and government academy are both cost-effective ways to improve communication with our residents and promote the services Hall County provides," County Administrator Randy Knighton said. "We want to encourage citizens to be active in their local government."

During the seven-week academy, participants will interact with each county department. Beyond learning about the basic structure and services, residents will gain an intimate understanding of how their tax dollars are spent and what issues face Hall County Government. The first academy is tentatively scheduled for April 9-May 21; registration will open in March.

Sign up for the newsletter at www.hallcounty.org. For more information about the Citizens' Government Academy, contact Public Information Officer Nikki Young at [email protected] or 770-297-5504.
