Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said the man opened his front door around 8:30 when the doorbell rang. He told authorities he was greeted by a heavy-set, white female offering house cleaning services.
Wilbanks said as the victim was refusing the services, a dark-skinned, black male approached, pointing a handgun and demanding money. The victim was then forced to lead the suspects to a back bedroom, where he handed over approximately $150 in cash. The victim was told to remain in the bedroom while the suspects fled, according to Wilbanks.
The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1: Black male, mid 20's, approximately 5'10" tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds, with short, black hair, wearing a white t-shirt.
Suspect #2: White female, mid 20's, approximately 5'5" tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. Unknown hair and eye color, wearing a white, flower-print dress.
Wilbanks said while authorities do not believe there is a reason for other residents in the area to worry about similar crimes, he does believe the case offers an important lesson to all homeowners.
"We recommend that citizens speak to these people through the door while that door remains locked as opposed to just opening the door up and allowing a possible criminal immediate, easy access to get inside your home," said Wilbanks.
