LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves saw their playoff hopes extinguished by rain and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs on Monday.

The Iron Pigs won a rain-shortened 4-1 game against Syracuse on Sunday, rendering Gwinnett's regular season finale with the Charlotte Knights meaningless.

The G-Braves finished 1.5 games behind Lehigh Valley in the Wild Card standings, as Gwinnett ended with a 78-65 record.

The rains came before the 2:05 p.m. scheduled start. And again in the top of the 4th inning with Gwinnett trailing Charlotte 2-1 (the score or any stats will not count from this game), which was the final time Coolray Field would be filled with Braves in the 2011 season.

Starting RHP Erik Cordier went 3.0 IP, allowing 2 R/ER, 3 H, 6 BB, 4 K's and a HR. He was last on the mound when the umpires called the game.

Gwinnett got two hits in the game, one apiece from C Wil Nieves and 3B Ruben Gotay. Matt Young, at 2B, stole a base in the game.
