ATLANTA - Weather officials say much of north Georgia is being hit with heavy rains and strong winds as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee move through the state.

Mike Leary with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City says most of the state was under tornado watches starting Monday afternoon. He said the state will get between two and four inches of rain by Tuesday morning.

Weather officials reported a possible tornado in Powder Springs outside of Atlanta. It was not clear if there was heavy damage there. And there are flash flood watches throughout the state.

The storms also are expected to bring cooler temperatures after weeks of sweltering heat. It is not expected to get hotter than 80 until later in the week.
