GAINESVILLE - This year's Publix Atlanta Cup Soccer Tournament got underway at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville Saturday to rave reviews.

For the tenth straight year, Allen Creek is one of 20 venues throughout metro Atlanta hosting teams from around the Southeast.

Colorful canopies and Sport-Brella canopies and parents lined the fields as players went head to head in competition. The sounds of officials' whistles and parents' cheers perforated the otherwise quiet morning.

The Publix Atlanta Cup is open to select teams from u10 to u19, both boys and girls. Allen Creek games include 12- to 17-year-old girls and 10-year-old boys.

"This is a pretty great tournament," said parent Tracy Brown of Johns Creek. "They have seven of the top 20 teams in the u10 bracket in this tournament. Seven of the top 20 teams in the country are playing in this program: You've got two teams from Tennessee, two from South Carolina, one from Alabama here, a lot of good teams from Atlanta
