GAINESVILLE - Centennial Arts Academy is inviting all fathers and father-figures to head to school next week to kick off a new program to promote male role models.

The school will have Dads and Kids' Pizza Night on Tuesday 6-7 p.m..

The event helps kick off Centennial's new program WATCH D.O.G.S. - which stands for "Dads of Great Students."

The program's other planned activities include fathers tutoring to students, reading to them, or just sharing their careers and experiences.

School officials say they hope the program will help kids get a chance to have positive male role models in their lives.

"Fathers and father-figures can spend meaningful time with their students in the school setting and gain a greater awareness of the positive impact they can have on their student's life, just by being a 'dad'."
