DAHLONEGA - A portion of Highway 60 south of Dahlonega has reopened after being closed earlier Thursday when a load of metal pieces were dumped into the roadway by a truck.
Authorities said the highway was closed for about a one-mile stretch between Calhoun Mine Road and Chestatee Springs Road.
Lumpkin County Police Lt. Wesley Burnett said a number of vehicles were damaged when they drove over the metal shavings. The driver of the truck has been cited for failing to secure the load.
