BUFORD - There is new information about a boating accident on Lake Lanier over the weekend that took the life of a 14-year-old Buford boy.

Family friends tell Fox 5 that Trevor Jones was sitting on the bow of one of two boats that collided Saturday night near the Hall-Dawson county line.

Stephen Fountain said Jones was on a family outing at the time and that the other boat came out of a cove and struck the boat the boy was on, knocking him into the water. His body was recovered Sunday.

Jones was a sophomore at Buford High School and his funeral will be held Friday.

A memorial fund has been set up at dixiecares.org.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the accident continues and no charges have been filed at this time.
