The Wolves pounded Blessed Trinity, 42-0 in Roswell, while the Rebels won a 34-28 shootout with Murphy, N.C., in Blue Ridge.
Riverside Military Academy, North Forsyth and Towns County weren't able to open with victories, however. The Eagles nearly completed a compeback but fell to Pinecrest Academy 21-14 in Gainesville. Riverside quarterback Collin Pettell threw two touchdown passes and put up 202 yards through the air. But five total turnovers proved too much for the Eagles to overcome despite outgaining Pinecrest 268-220.
Meanwhile North Forsyth suffered a 34-14 at the hands of Cherokee in Coal Mountain. Towns County also fell to Hayesville, N.C., 21-6 in Hiawassee.
