Woman kidnapped, carjacked in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville and Sandy Springs police are investigating a carjacking and kidnapping that started in Gainesville and ended in north Fulton County Wednesday afternoon.

Gainesville Police spokesman Joe Britte says Sandra Zavala told officers she was forced at gunpoint by a man to drive her vehicle from the QuikTrip store on E.E. Butler Parkway to the Atlanta area.

When the car started to run out of gas on Georgia 400, she told police the suspect jumped from the vehicle and ran.

Zavala was not hurt, but she was shaken up, according to Britte.
