COMMERCE - A one-day string of thefts in a Commerce subdivsion last week has police still looking for the culprits.

They all happened on the same day at Woodland Heights Subdivision and involved several vehicles and one house but no suspects have been identified, according to Commerce Police Chief John Gaissert.

Nevertheless, without elaborating, Chief Gaissert said he feels the people responsible for the thefts are "local individuals."

Gaissert says he's especially concerned about the house burglary because the house was entered while the occupants were inside asleep. That incident, he says, could have easily escalated into something more than just a burglary, something violent, had the occupants been awakened.
