Gwinett County Police Corp. Jake Smith said when the victim met the suspect in the parking lot of Century Apartments, he was carrying a small box that supposedly contained the iPad.
"When she got close, however, he produced a large butcher knife and robbed her for her money at knifepoint," Smith said. "It was about $550 she brought with her to purchase that iPad."
Smith said the victim's description and the suspect's other ad listings on Craigslist led to the arrest of 24-year-old Raemonte Gentale Harris. He has been charged with armed robbery.
He said the robbery should serve as a warning to anyone making a purchase on Craigslist.
"If somebody is not willing to meet in a safe place, then that should be a red flag," said Smith.
Harris remains in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
