ATLANTA - Georgia tourism seems to be holding its own these days, despite lingering problems with the economy.

The Georgia News Network reports the state reaped $21 billion from visitors last year, an eight percent increase, with Gainesville one of the places singled-out for noticable increases.

In addition to Gainesville, the report says Macon, the coastal area, and Rome also showed significant increases in tourism-related dollars last year.
