The sponsor, Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #611, was expecting at least 150 "flying machines," from homemade jobs to Army helicopters, other helicopters and twin- and single-engine private planes of all kinds.
Early morning thunderstorms and overcast skies about daybreak didn't deter the crowds and gave way to partly cloudy, warm and muggy weather, and by noon the parking lost was all but full.
In addition to the static display of aircraft, the fly-in featured, for a price, helicopter and bi-plane rides.
There was food and drink and even a "bounce house" for kids, who were especially interested in a military helicopter and the chance to climb aboard, including a turn in the pilot or co-pilot's seats.
