GAINEVILLE - Starting with the bills that go in the mail Friday, City of Gainesville property owners will have the option of paying their bills on-line.

City tax coordinator Dee Dee Stephens said the first of the split billing will go out Friday and be due September 1.

"We are pleased to be able to make it more convenient for citizens to pay their taxes," Stephens said. "On-line payments can be made by going to www.gainesville.org then clicking on the 'I Want To' tab at the top. Taxes may also be paid in person at 300 Henry Ward Way, first floor Joint Administration Building or mailed to P. O. Box 2496, Gainesville, GA 30503."

Stephens said the city will mail 6,090 bills Friday with a total tax amount of $9,644,243.49.
