GAINESVILLE - Two house fires and several downed trees are being reported in Hall County as a result of Sunday's storms.

The fires occurred within minutes of each other around 7:45 Sunday night, according to Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell.

Kimbrell said the first was in the 3400 block of Michael Circle where the homeowner reported the house had been struck by lightning. The $180,000 house suffered about $10,000 worth of damage.

The second fire occurred underneath a mobile home in the 3500 block of Greggs Road shortly after the occupants reported hearing a lighting strike.

Kimbrell added that there were several trees blown down across Hall County by yesterday's storms.

Lightning also hit two homes in Jackson County Sunday night. Jackson County Emergency Services Director Steve Nichols said the homes were in the Jackson Trail Area at 37 Wildberry Court and 132 Braselton Farms Drive.

Nichols said crews also responded to fallen trees over Highway 82 North and Holly Springs Road.
