Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jennifer Roberts said the single-vehicle accident happened around 10:20 Friday night on I-85 northbound between Highway 20 and Hamilton Mill Road.
"The investigation is showing us that for unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and entered the median," said Roberts. "When the driver attempted to re-enter the roadway, she lost control of her vehicle, and it overturned."
Roberts said the victim died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
