Gainesville attorney dies of leukemia

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville attorney Sam Oliver died Tuesday following a short battle with leukemia.

Oliver was a member of the law firm Hulsey, Oliver & Mahar and was a founding director of GB&T Bancshares and its predecessor, Gainesville Bank & Trust.

He also served on the Gainesville City School Board, serving as chairman from 1983 to 1986.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hayesville, NC.

Oliver was 68.
