Israel should not be pushed to give up any land

Mr. President, who are you to lay down a principle that requires Israel to give up any land? May I ask, What have you "required" the Arabs to give up? That's right, I did not say, Palestinians. I said, "Arabs".

That leads me to my first point. Why not expect some Arab countries to make room for some of the Palestinian refugees? Have you noticed how small Israel is compared to how much land mass Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt have? Israel has absorbed all the Jews who have relocated and now is expected to absorb all the Palestinians refugees as well!?

Recently Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel could not negotiate with a newly constituted Palestinian unity government that includes the radical Hamas movement, which refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist. That leads to my next point. How can our President not understand that Israel can not carry on "peace talks" with a group whose stated purpose is to destroy Israel? If I were President I would tell the Palestinians to "get back to me" when they affirmed Israel's 'right to exist. And by the way, no more U.S. aid until they do.

The Six Day War occurred years ago when Israel warned then Egyptian President Nasser, "any closure of the Straits would be considered an act of war". Well, you should have listened! Upon closing the Straits Israel attacked which leads to my third point. Don't "mess around" with Israel. Unlike some countries, Israel means what she says and says what she means!

The war began with a large-scale surprise air strike by Israel. The outcome was a swift and decisive Israeli victory. Israel took effective control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan and the Golan Heights from Syria. By nightfall, Israel said it had destroyed 416 Arab aircraft, while losing only 26 of its own in the first two days of the war.

Israel deployed 264,000 troops. The countries fighting Israel deployed 547,000. Israel had 800 tanks compared to over 2500 of its enemy. Bottom line - Israel won in a matter of days. This leads to my fourth point. It is unwise to challenge a country which had earlier defeated a prominent enemy by simply walking the city walls 7 times while blowing trumpets!

I realize that the Sinai Peninsula was returned to Egypt from Israel in 1982 through the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty. However, I think most will agree that asking a country to give up land won in a war is in most cases not reasonable.

Israel should not give up any more land. America needs to get and stay on the right side of this issue. Mr. President, enough is enough!
