Saturday members of the King family including Martin Luther King III, his wife Arndrea Waters King and Yolanda Renee King, Dr. and Coretta King's first granddaughter were on had for a special presentation. At the request of Cabbage Patch creator Xavier Roberts the special delivery baby, "Baby Martin Luther" was presented to Yolanda Renee.
Annie Sutton, the first African American woman to be elected to the Cleveland City Council, arranged for Ingles in Cleveland to prepared a Babyland General Hospital Cake for Yolanda, who will be celebrating her third birthday May 26th.
Margaret McLean, Director of Corporate Communications for Original Appalachian Artworks and spokesperson for Babyland said, Cabbage Patch Kids create family bonds. Children are never too young to appreciate the importance of love and family. Through this adoption ceremony, Yolanda Renee will learn about the responsibility of teaching her own baby the values and ideals for which her grandfather stood. A celebration of our differences, acceptance of others and unconditional love are values shared by both Dr. King and the Cabbage Patch Kids.
