GAINESVILLE - The public was given a chance Saturday morning to weigh in on planning Gainesville's future.

The city is beginning the required update of its blueprint for growth for the next 20 years and held a public input meeting at the Georgia Mountains Center.

The consulting firm working on the plan and city staff were present to gather ideas for the 2030 comprehensive plan.

City Planning Division Manager Matt Tate says the full plan update has to be finalized by June 30 2012.

Tate says between now and next June there will be more chances for public input.

The plan covers a wide range of growth factors involving the city's future, from infrastructure to education to commercial/residential growth... a road map to the year 2030.
