CLEVELAND - Cleveland police say it was a Gainesville man responsible for Wednesday's attempted armed robbery at a convenience store.

Police Chief John Foster identified the suspect as 27-year-old Kenny Nicely. Nicely apparently entered the Kountry Kupboard store on West Kytle Street around 1:30 P.M. and got into a struggle with the store owner. Foster said Nicely ran from the scene without any money. No one was injured in the struggle.

Witnesses told police where they saw the suspect run. He was arrested unarmed a short time later. A gun used in the robbery attempt was located by a Dawson County K-9 unit shortly after Nicely's arrest.

Foster said Nicely is charged with armed robbery and may faces other charges in connection with the incident. Nicely currently is being held at the White County Detention Center.
