More than 1,200 high school and club rowers were expected to compete in rowing events Saturday and Sunday on Lake Lanier, featuring 40 teams from as far away as Miami, Fla., and Raliegh, N.C.
Teams arrived Friday afternoon and qualifying races started at 8:00 Saturday morning. Finals will be held on Sunday between 8:00-12:00.
Local teams from Lake Lanier Rowing Club and Riverside Military Academy are competing.
This is the second of three major rowing events being held on Lake Lanier this spring. The race is the American Collegiate Rowing Championships on May 28-29.
