St. Supreme Court upholds Hall Co. kidnapping/assault conviction

ATLANTA - The state Supreme Court affirms the kidnapping conviction of Timothy Hammond by a Hall County jury in a case involving his ex-wife.

The high court ruled unanimously in upholding a ruling by the state Court of Appeals rejecting Hammond's appeal.

Hammond was convicted in Gainesville five years ago of assaulting his former spouse and holding her captive. He is serving a life sentence.

The Supreme Court of Georgia has upheld a decision by the Georgia Court of Appeals and affirmed the kidnapping conviction of a Hall County man found guilty of assaulting his exwife and holding her captive. At issue in this case is "asportation"
