Barrow man arrested in Gainesville smash-and-grab burglaries

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville police think they've solved a series of smash-and-grab burglaries that plagued business in the Atlanta Road area during a two-week period last month.

They've arrested a Barrow County man - Luis Gonzalez - and charged him with four of the burglaries.

Spokesman Joe Britte says Gonzalez, 45, would strike at night when the businesses were closed, breaking the front door.

Britte says Gonzalez, who is from Behleham, was arrested after a traffic stop that uncovered physical evidence linking him to the break-ins.
