Georgia's legendary coach and athletic director, Vince Dooley, will headline a reception and silent auction to benefit the United Way of Lumpkin County on Thursday.

Organizers are hosting the event at the Achasta Clubhouse on Birch River Drive in Dahlonega from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person which includes access to items for the silent auction, heavy hors d'oeuvres and the visit with Coach Dooley.

The event is also hosting an autograph session for Coach Dooley as he will sell and autograph his books, artist prints and Bulldog game day memorabilia. His latest book, "Vince Dooley's Garden," describes his passion with ornamental gardening and features paintings by the famed watercolorist Steve Penley. His best selling book, "My Forty Years at Georgia," recaps the stellar career at the University. Two books for children are presented along with numbered artist prints. Cash or checks are accepted for the Dooley items.

"I am honored to be part of the United Way campaign in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County as we've supported the United Way for more than four decades," Dooley said.

Tickets for the event are available at the Chamber of Commerce, United Community Bank, North Georgia College Continuing Education or by calling the United Way at 706-864-0148.
