FLOWERY BRANCH - Fire heavily damaged the basement of a house near Flowery Branch Thursday morning.

Hall County firefighters got the call about 10:30 to the 6400 block of South Creek Court and fire chief David Kimbrell says the person who reported it said the fire was in the basement.

"Upon arrival," Kimbrell said, "firefighters found (a) 2,000-square-foot, two-story house with smoke showing (and the) basement shows heavy smoke."

Kimbrell says there was a quick "knockdown" on the fire but that the house suffered "extensive damage to the basement and smoke damage to the upstairs area."

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined. There were no injuries.
