PENDERGRASS - The Pendergrass Flea Market has established a fund to help the vendors affected by last weekend's devastating fire and will provide a 100 percent match to all contributions. In the meantime, plans are moving ahead to reopen Saturday.

Contributions to the vendors fund may be made by contacting any local branch of Regions Bank and mentioning the Pendergrass Flea Market Vendors Fire Relief Fund.

Owners of the flea market says they are working "quickly" to resume normal operation while expressing understanding for the difficulties some vendors are facing. Many lost all of their merchandise in the fire which started late last Saturday night and continued into the following morning.

Damage was in the millions and the cause is believed to have been electrical. (See earlier story.)

The flea market will reopen Saturday and be open Sunday, as well, and an already-planned rodeo and music festival will be held as scheduled
