GAINESVILLE - A Habersham County woman has been ordered to prison for embezzeling more than $350,000 from the Hall County business where she worked after pleading guilty to the theft.

Clara June Allen, who is from Clarkesville, was employed as a bookkeeper by Mencom Corporation of Gainesville, where she had worked since 2001.

Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh confirmed Thursday she was given a 30-year sentence... three to be served in prison and two under house arrest.

Allen began working for Mencom in 2001 and began stealing from the firm in 2003. The thefts continued until 2008 when she was accused of the embezzlement. She was indicted by a Hall County Grand Jury a year later.
