DAWSONVILLE - Keep Dawson County Beautiful has partnered with Better World Books to bring book recycling to the community.

Better World Books acquires books through various collection programs including their Green Bin program.

Every book collected from the Green Bin is sorted and then sold online, donated if they cannot be sold, or properly recycled. A portion of the sales are returned to Keep Dawson County Beautiful.

"This is a great way for us to raise funds in a simple way that is also good for the environment," said KDCB Executive Director Cathy Brooks.

Since it was founded in 2009, Better World Books has:
- raised more than $9 million dollars for its non-profit partners
- donated over 3.3 million books to those desperately in need
- reused or recycled over 40 million books saving space in landfills
- and, achieved over 17,000 tons of carbon offsets through carbon neutral shipping

Unwanted books can be left in the green bin at the Dawson County Recycling Center at 946 Burt Creek Road, Dawsonville.
