The singing group is on a spring break tour, and Austin Atherton, along with brothers Brian and Tim Scully made the trip home to north Georgia. Brian, a sophomore, auditioned for the club at the onset of his college career and says it's an honor to be part of the Glee Club.
"They [music department officials] will say which groups you get into and you can accept to be in the Glee Club, which personally, I think is the best club."
His brother Tim, a junior, says Notre Dame has a rich tradition in music.
"There's the Women's Liturgical Choir, the Folk Choir, which sings at Mass every week, [and] the Chorale, which tours like we do."
Brian and Tim's parents are Dr. Tim and Mary Scully, both graduates of Notre Dame. All five Scully children have attended or are currently attending Notre Dame. Both brothers started singing in elementary school and have been part of church and school choirs since that time.
A third Hall County member of the Glee Club, Austin Atherton, graduated from Lakeview Academy in 2009. He started singing during his sophomore year in high school when his friends and a teacher urged him to audition for the school musical.
All three are spending their college spring break to tour with the Glee Club.
"We're going next on to Greenville, S.C. and then after that we head up to West Virginia, and finish up in Carmel, Indiana for our last concert," said Atherton.
The Notre Dame Men's Glee Club has been part of the South Bend, Indiana university for more than 95 years.
