Baseball: Johnson holds off Lanier for second straight win

OAKWOOD -- Johnson won its second straight Region 8-AAA game in as many days Saturday holding on to beat Lanier 8-7 at Johnson Field.

The Knights (4-3, 3-2 in region) got a big game from A.J. Benefield, who had two hits and four RBI, including a two-run home run. Trae Wilson added a solo home run and Taylor Whitmire and Logan Pethel each had one hit for the Knights.

Starting pitcher Chris White went 6 1/3 innings striking out nine for Johnson to earn the win. Jordan Green got the save pitching the seventh inning.

The Knights will travel to Monroe Area on Monday for another Region 8-AAA matchup.
