Lt. Scott Dakin with Barrow County Emergency Services said units were called to the scene just before 7:30 p.m. The resident of the home was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher.
"A small area of the vinyl siding on the outside of the home was damaged as a result of the fire," said Dakin.
Dakin said the location and origin of the fire led investigators to believe the fire is an arson. The investigation has now been turned over to the Barrow County Sheriff's Office.
